William R. Stonfer, Jr., 90, of Baden, died Tuesday, October 5, 2021 in Manor Care of North Hills. He was born on August 13, 1931 in Ambridge, to the late William R. Stonfer Sr. and Anna (Kuhar) Stonfer. He was a scarfer in the bar mill for Armco Steel retiring with 30 years plus service. He then drove a school bus for Rhodes Transit until his second retirement. William proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Baden Legion, had a passion for woodworking and fishing and was an avid Pittsburgh sports enthusiast.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his wife, Helen (DeLisio) Stonfer and a brother, Robert Stonfer. He is survived by two sons, David (Jackie) Stonfer of Mechanicsburg, Dennis (Judy) Stonfer of Monaca, four grandchildren, Sarah (Steve) Zak, Caleb and Nathan Stonfer and David (Kirstin) Stonfer, three great grandchildren, two sisters, Donna (Richard) Winkler and Janis Stonfer, all of Ambridge, and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Friday from 5 PM until time of funeral services at 7:30 PM in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge. The Rev. Jill McGregor will officiate. Anyone who wishes to attend the burial service are ask to meet at the funeral home at 12:15 PM on Friday, October 15, 2021. The funeral procession will leave promptly at 12:30 PM for burial with full military honors at 1:30 PM in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
