Virginia Poninsky Obituary

Virginia L. Poninsky, 89, of Union City, formerly of Leetsdale, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2021 in Edinboro Manor, Edinboro, PA. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Suzanne (Lentz) Potts. She was a production worker for the former Codo Manufacturing in Leetsdale and a former member of the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Ambridge. She was currently a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, Union City where she was a member of the Rosary-Altar Society.  Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her husband, Michael Poninsky and six sisters, Mary K. (Fairley) Hammer, Bertha Schalott, Dorothy Davis Tolbert, Susan Pritchett, Rosemarie Ponton, and Barbara Burkhardt. Surviving are a sister, Nestreda "Nettie" Engelman of Union City, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, and great great nephews. Virginia was very proud to have raised her two nephews, Pete and Bruce Poninsky after both their parents, Pete and Helen Poninsky died at a very young age less than year apart.  Family and friends are invited to meet Monday in Good Samaritan Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 AM. Private interment will follow in SS Peter and Paul Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge.
