Thomas J. Dougherty, 72, of Baden, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, in Allegheny General Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born on January 17, 1950, in Pittsburgh, to the late John and Constance (Hickel) Dougherty. He received his Masters Degree in teaching and was a retired English teacher for Pittsburgh Public Schools. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his wife, Patricia (Leyde) Dougherty. He enjoyed his family and grandchildren above all else. He loved writing poetry, history, and spending time at the Sewickley YMCA with his many friends. He is survived by his three children, Pete (Jennifer) Dougherty of Covington, Louisiana, Kevin (Megan) Dougherty, Katy (Lawrence) Ake, all of Baden, five grandchildren, Logan and Maddy Oberlin, John, Sarah and Hailey Ake, two sisters, Jean Marie (Karl) Aufman of Pittsburgh, Connie Devine of Skokie, Illinois, and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2:30 PM until a time of sharing family memories at 4:30 PM in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. 833 Kennedy Drive Ambridge.
