Stephen Budimir, age 87, of Baden, died on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. He was born on November 26, 1933 in Ambridge, to the late John and Mary (Yurisich) Budimir. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Baden. Stephen proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Ambridge High School and then attended Geneva College where he received both his Batchelor and Masters Degrees in education. Stephen taught elementary school at Highland School from 1962 to 1967. He then was the superintendent at the Tampa Children's Home from 1967 to 1969. He taught at Cornell School District from 1969 until his retirement in 1993. Stephen was former president of the Highland Teachers Association and served as a negotiator on the negotiating team at Cornell School District. He was a member of PSEA, PASR, and the NEA. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were five brothers, Jerome, Joseph, John, Kazimir, and Peter Budimir and five sisters, Pauline Budimir, Rose Taddy, Mary Colodonato, Mildred Mickey, and Annie Marusic. He is survived by his wife, Peggy (Matthias) Budimir, a son and daughter in law Dan and Yomphana Budimir of Annapolis, MD, two grandchildren, Blake and Quinn Budimir, a sister, Josephine Roppa of Leet Township, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge where prayers will be offered on Wednesday at 9:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Baden. Interment with full military honors will follow at 10:45 AM in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
