Ronald L. Besong

Ronald L. Belong, 84, of Bell Acres, passed away Friday, May 26, 2023, at Concordia Villa St. Joseph. He was born on March 21, 1939, in the family home in Leetsdale, and was the last of twelve children born to the late John and Claire (Maloney) Besong. He was retired from the former Jones and Laughlin Steel Corporation, Aliquippa Works where he worked in data processing as a computer programmer. He along with his brothers Tom and Jim owned and operated the Besong's County Lounge in Leetsdale from 1987 to 1995. Ron served as mayor of Bell Acres from 2004 until 2018. He had a great love for his family, especially his grandchildren, Alyssa and Brent. He had a tremendous passion for working hard. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army at a time when the world was at peace. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his wife, Margaret (Berkovic) Besong, March 13, 2014, and eleven siblings, infant two-year-old brother, Charlie, brothers, Jack, Jim, Bill, Bob, Paul, Ray, Alvin, and Tom, sisters, Lila Roberts and Dorothy Brutout. He is survived by his daughter Christine Besong and his two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Karla Besong of Bell Acres, Donald and Jenn Besong of Bellevue, two grandchildren, Alyssa Besong and her fiancé Justin White, Brent Besong and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-8 PM in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. 833 Kennedy Drive where prayers will be offered on Wednesday at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, Good Samaritan Catholic Church. Interment with full military honors provided by the Beaver County Special Unit and the United States Army will follow at 11 AM in Good Samaritan Cemetery.
