Robin Bemis Obituary

After a long battle with cancer, Robin Lynn (Podnar) Bemis, 53 of LeetTownship, passed away in her home on February 12, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 30, 1966, in Rochester, PA, to the late Eugene and Norma (Kolb) Podnar. She is survived by her husband, Frank E. Bemis; two daughters, Tabitha Lynn Bemis and Amanda Kathleen (Bemis) Battaglia; son-in-law, Joshua Battaglia; sister Pamela and her husband, James Gregio; sister Jill Wood; step-mother, Janet Podnar; and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, is her sister, Kathleen Podnar; brothers-in-law, Geoff Tracy, Craig Wood, Tom Bemis, and Paul Bemis.

A loving wife and mother, her daughters were her pride and joy, insisting there is nothing like a mother’s love. Through thick and thin, sickness and in health, her loving husband cared for her deeply. Their love could weather any storm, and in the most difficult season of their lives, he stood by her and gave her strength. Her devoted dog, Dutchess, never left her side, lying next to her through her last breath. She loved having all of her “peeps under one roof” spending her last moments with her family by her side. For her, family and friends were everything, she saw the best in everyone and was a beautiful representation of selflessness.

A Christian by faith, she regularly reminded us to “keep the faith.” We have said from the beginning that the battle is the Lord’s and now she is standing in victory with Him.  She took comfort in the passage, “He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you, never, ever, during your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."

She will be remembered for her strength, kind and loving nature, warm smile, and contagious laugh. She is described as a beacon of light to all she touched, the strength her family relied on. She radiated unconditional love, everyone who knew her, felt the strength of her devotion.

Robin graduated from Monaca High School, where she was an Indianetteand went on to be an instructor. She found joy in cheering for and coaching her daughters through years of sports, academics, and extracurricular activities.

In her free time, she spread happiness through creative projects, including Halloween costumes, hand-woven blankets, and beautiful necklaces. She loved her Pittsburgh ‘Stillers’ especially her favorite player, Troy Polomalu. She spent her evenings watching Wheel of Fortune, almost always correctly solving puzzles before contestants.

The family wishes to thank all who cared for her during her last weeks. She reminds us to always be humble, kind, loving and tender hearted.

Friends will be received on Friday, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the John Syka Funeral Home Inc. 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge.
