Reena Schmidt Obituary

Reena Leigh Schmidt, 76, of Economy Borough, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born July 27, 1949, in Duff City, a daughter of the late James Frederick and Regina Dare Riley (Morrow). Reena graduated from North Allegheny High School in 1967. She worked for Homemaker Home Health Aide Services for over twenty years, an organization that her sister Roxeen Slappo and her mother had worked for since it was founded in 1971. She enjoyed making ceramics, camping, taking care of the elderly, and always making everyone laugh. Her husband, Arthur Schmidt, enjoyed portraying General Anthony Wayne at various Whiskey Rebellion celebrations throughout the region, and she portrayed Mary Wayne, his wife.

Surviving are her four children: daughter Regina Lavan, son Brad Wilfong and his wife Jessica, and sons Robert Trakofler and Robert Schmidt. She is also survived by six grandchildren—Ashley, Dominic, Morgan, Jason, Terra, and Kaylee—ten great-grandchildren, and her siblings: brothers Keith (Kathy) Riley, Patrick Riley, and sisters Roxeen Slappo, Sharmane McCoy, Sandra Connier.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her first husband, Carol J. Wilfong; her second husband, Arthur Schmidt; and her brother, Marshall M. Riley.
