Nicola DiTommaso Obituary


Nicola (Nick) DiTommaso, 89, of Conway, died Wednesday, March 20, 2019 in Villa St. Joseph. He was born March 9, 1930 in Bugnara, Italy to the late Antonio and Filomena (Colaluca) DiTommaso. He was a retired inspector for Conrail Railroad with 38 years of service. Nick was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Conway, Conway Senior Citizens, and Conway VFW.  He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War.  He was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Star.  He was a talented stone mason, carpenter, and electrician.  Nick was a musician, expert gardener, and wine maker.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was a sister and brother-in-law, Maria and Roberto Mininni. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Luisa (DiBernardo) DiTommaso, three sons, Richard DiTommaso and Thomas Rihn of Penn Hills, David (Teri) DiTommaso, Oceola, Indiana, Anthony (Kim) DiTommaso of Cranberry, four grandchildren, Dominic, Matthew, Emma, and Nico DiTommaso, nephew, Luciano (Therese) Mininni, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rita and Nicola DelRossi of Italy, Lina DeBernardo of Canada, numerous nieces in Italy, Canada and France. Friends will be received Friday from 4-8 PM in the John Syka Funeral Home, 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge where prayers will be offered Saturday at 12:30 PM. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 PM in Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.  Private interment will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.  The family would like to thank the staff of Villa St. Joseph and Good Samaritan Hospice for their loving care.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimers Association, St. Judes Children's Hospital, or Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.  The Beaver County Special unit will provide full military honors at 1:45 PM on Saturday at the church.
