Mildred "Millie" Kohar, 89, a resident St. Barnabas, Beaver Meadows, formerly of Hopewell Twp., passed away peacefully on Monday, May 16, 2022, at St. Barnabas, Beaver Meadows. She was born on August 25,1932 to the late John and Anna (Pechak) Batista in the family home in the West View section of Pittsburgh and was raised in Laurel Gardens. Millie worked as a seamstress for the former Marsyl's on Franklin Avenue, Aliquippa. She was a member of Mary Queen of Saints Parish, Our Lady of Fatima, Hopewell Township. She enjoyed her many trips to Myrtle Beach with her late husband Joe to wait in line to savor the famous "Calabash Style" seafood buffet and "All You Eat" crab legs at Crabby Mikes in Surfside Beach. Millie's passions in life were working crossword puzzles and reading. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her husband Joseph M. Kohar on December 8, 2009, sister, Helen Sciotto; brother, John Batista; brothers-in-laws, David Winter and Andy Harper and sister-in-law. Janet Batista. She leaves behind her daughter, Patricia Ann Kohar of Sewickley, son, Michael J. Kohar of Ambridge, two sisters, Norma Harper of Waynesburg, Rose Winter of Pittsburgh, brother, Donald Batista of Wexford, brother-in-law, Nick Sciotto of Pittsburgh, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Edward and Marie Kohar of Baden, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Friends will be received on Sunday, from 1 to 5 PM in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, where prayers will be offered on Monday at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Queen of Saints Parish, Our Lady of Fatima, Entombment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery Mausoleum. Patricia Ann would like to thank the caring staff and caregivers at St. Barnabas, Beaver Meadows, and St. Barnabas Hospice for their loving and compassionate care extended to Millie at her new home away from home this past year. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in Millie's memory be made to the Beaver County Humane Society, 3393 Brodhead Road, Aliquippa, PA 15001.
