Michael D. Petkash, age 57, of Economy died on Thursday, September 16, 2021 in Allegheny General Hospital after a very courageous and long 15 year battle with cancer. He never once backed down from anything and fought to the very end. He was born on March 8, 1964 in Sewickley, to the late Donald E. Petkash and Pearl (Jula) Petkash of Wexford. He was a self employed carpenter of the former Petkash Remodeling. He enjoyed fishing and gardening with his wife of 33 years. Michael was a member of Holy Ghost Orthodox Church, Ambridge. Preceding him in death in addition to his father was his father-in-law Leonard S. Gagliardi, brother-in-law, Gregory Beckett, his Godfather Robert (Butch) Larnish and his grandparents. In addition to his Mother, he is survived by his wife, Maria (Gagliardi) Petkash, two sisters, Donna Beckett of Harmony Twp., Karen (Jim) Larrimer of Cranberry Twp., nieces and nephews, Allison and Hayley Larrimer, Christopher and Michael Beckett, Ryan (Roxie) Smart, Michael and Steven Flook, Giovanni and Anjuli Gagliardi, great nephew, Landon Smart, mother-in-law, Mary Elaine Gagliardi of Conway, sister-in-law, Lenora Gagliardi of Economy, his brother-in-law, Leonard Gagliardi of Portsmouth, VA and his Godmother, Ruth Koloski and a great aunt, Dorothy Pollock, many great friends and neighbors. A private church service was held on Saturday in Holy Ghost Orthodox Church, Ambridge with his pastor, The Very Rev. William J. Evansky officiating. Private interment followed in Sewickley Cemetery. Maria would like to thank the nurses at Allegheny General Hospital and the nurses and staff at Allegheny Health Network for their loving and professional care extended to Michael during his long illness and to Father Bill for all of his spiritual guidance and support. Funeral services were entrusted to the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. Ambridge.
