Mary Corso Obituary

Mary Louise Corso, 101 years young, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 in Providence Care Center, Beaver Falls. She was born on September 1, 1919 in Sewickley, to the late Dominic and Mary (Cola) Marino. She was a 1937 graduate of Ambridge High School. Mary was a member of Good Samaritan Catholic Church, Ambridge where she belonged to the Christian Mothers Ladies Guild and also a member of the Ambridge Italian Women's Club. Mary was a wonderful cook and nothing made her happier than feeding a house full of family and friends, or just sharing a meal with her family.  Word has it that all of Beaver County is making her pizzelles after her recipe was published in the Times some years ago.  She also loved music and dancing was one of her favorite things to do.  She danced with her cousin Mary from their young days, sneaking out of the house to go to local dances with ‘pin money’ hidden in their clothes to get home.  Later she danced for years with her husband, and most recently danced from her wheelchair.  Mary loved to travel whether for her ‘secret’ vice to the casinos with her son Bill, or to go to NYC and Italy with her daughter.  Her 80thbirthday trip to Italy was the time of her life.  Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her husband, William J. Corso, two sisters, Rose Lucci and Theresa Salvati and two brothers, Anthony and Philip Marino. She is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline Corso of East Hampton, NY, a son, William A. Corso of Ambridge along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Due to Covid 19 concerns, there will be no public visitation. Family and friends are invited to meet Thursday in the Good Samaritan Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 A.M. Private interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the John Syka Funeral Home Inc. 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge. The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to the staff of Franciscan Manor and Providence Care Center for the loving and compassionate care extended to Mary while caring for her in her final years with them.
