Mario Cafarelli Obituary

Mario A. Cafarelli, 64, of Center Township, entered the gates of heaven peacefully on January 3rd, at Shadyside Hospital following a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born in Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela. Mario was a graduate of Ambridge High School class of 1974. He worked for Beaver County Laborers Union Local # 833 New Brighton, and then he became employed for Beaver County Public Works , a job he thoroughly enjoyed. He is survived by his beloved wife Sandy Tollis Cafarelli, dear brother of Tony Cafarelli, Jean Barnes, Mary (Garry) LaSota, Rose (Carl) Filipponi, brother in law to Antoinette, Donny, Patty Tollis (John Caputo), Marianne (Lou) Desiderio, and David Tollis. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, David Barnes, Jenna and Nick LaSota, Nicole and Staci Desiderio. Mario was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Carmen Cafarelli and mother and father-in-law, Guido and Carol Tollis, and brother in law, David Barnes. Mario lived life to the fullest. He was and avid hunter and fishermen. Mario was a member of a variety of sportsmans clubs throughout the valley. He always looked forward to his annual “First Day of Buck” hunting trip with his friends that he most cherished. He was also very proud of the wine that he produced in his basement. Many awards have been bestowed upon Mario for his outstanding wine.  He is best known throughout Beaver County as the Crooner. He was passionate about performing and singing for many functions or private parties. He would sing for hours and never take a break. Music truly was his life. His kind heart, smile and humble personality gave him the ability to just walk up to total strangers and start singing Frank Sinatra ballads. He was a past member of the St. Frances Cabrini Church Choir. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1-5 PM and Monday from 10 AM until time of closing prayers at noon in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:30 PM in Good Samaritan Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Moon Twp. The family would like to extend a special thank you for the care that Mario received from the sincere compassionate and dedicated staff of UPMC Shadyside Hospital.
