Marie W. Walter, a resident of Rochester Manor, formerly of Economy, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May, 12, 2021 in Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver at the age of 90 years old. She was born on December 25, 1930 in Sewickley, to the late George and Della Schermerhorn. Marie was an avid bowler in her younger years and her passion in life next to spending time with family was horses. She would enjoy a trip to the casino every now and then. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her loving husband Joe Walter in 1997, a sister, Jean Wagner, grandson, Eric Walter and son-in-law, Patrick A, Cercone. Surviving are her four children, Lawrence Walter of Dunedin, FL, Joseph (Kathryn) Walter of Beaver, Deborah Cercone of Economy, Sandra Walter, and Michael Gentile of New Orleans, LA, five grandchildren, Patrick (Deanna) Cercone of Kentucky, Lori (Troy) Swalinski of SC, Lisa (Andy) Yeck of New Sewickley Township, Jodi (Mike) Penu of FL, Sean and Kayleigh Gentile of Pittsburgh, nine great grandchildren, a sister, Nelda (Eugene) Bowan of Hacienda Heights, CA, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Private funeral services were held on Saturday in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge. Private entombment followed in Sylvania Hills Mausoleum. The family would like to thank Dr. Gehrline and the staff of Rochester Manor for the loving and compassionate care given to Marie while under their care.
