Madaline Karnavas, 93 of Moon Township, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 18, 2025.
She was born December 1, 1931, the daughter of the late John and Aphrodite Niaros, and siblings Visilli (Bill) Vasilakis, Dimetri (Jimmy) Niaros, and Isabel Capatides. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, the love of her life, and is now reunited with him for eternity. They met in 9th grade in Ambridge High School and were married on June 12, 1955. Living an idyllic life with Jack in Harmony Township, Madaline was a proud and dedicated homemaker, making her children’s upbringing a priority, and filling her home with love.
Madaline was a longtime member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, as well as the Greek American Progressive Association. She also volunteered for over 20 years at Brighton Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, formerly Friendship Ridge.
Surviving are her 4 children, Andrea Schriver-Barksby (Nigel), of Moon Twp., Nicholas (Karen) Karnavas, of Shaler Twp., Andrew Z. Karnavas, of Moon Twp., and Sophia (Victor) Tonino, of Floral Park, NY, 6 grandchildren, Zachary (Lauren) Schriver, Stephen Schriver, Eli and Eleni Karnavas, Norman Barksby and Kathryn (Donald) Noel, and 3 great grandchildren, Xavier Barksby, Aidy Kathryn Noel, and Ava Madaline Noel.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 P.M. in the John Syka Funeral Home, 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, PA 15003, from where a Trisagion service will be held at 4 P.M. Additional visitation will take place on Thursday from 9-10 AM in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 2930 Beaver Road, Ambridge, PA 15003, from where a Funeral Service will take place at 10 AM. Entombment will take place privately in the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Ambridge.
