Lanny Fennell (Uncle Lanny) 79 of Ambridge, passed away peacefully Friday, August 15, in the VA Medical Center, Butler, surrounded his loving family and friends.
He was born July 23,1946, in Sewickley, a son of the late, Blair and Genevieve Fennell.
He was one of 13 children. He was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam war. He proudly served his country as a Sgt (ES) with the US Marines and fought in the Battle of at Khe Sahn, north of the DMZ. He received the Presidential Unit Citation and many other metals for his services. He was a proud Marine Semper Fi. He loved his family and friends. He spent time at his camp in Tionesta after his (40) retirement as a diesel mechanic.
He is survived by 3 brothers Jim (Georgia) Fennell, Larry (Barbara) Fennell of Georgia, Ronnie (Cathy) Fennell of Rochester, 2 sisters Linda (Florida), and Diana (Don) of Fair Oaks, and also, many nieces and nephews and good friends.
Friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. in the John Syka Funeral Home from where the family will share memories of Lanny of Tuesday at 10:00 A.M.
Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park with full military honors.
Lanny will be greatly missed by friends and family! Rest in Peace!
