Katherine Frances Thompson “Vitkovic” passed away February 20, 2021. Born November 7, 1927, she was the daughter of the late father Frank and Ljuba Vitkovic. In addition to her parents she was preceded by her brothers Steve “Stubby” Vitkovic, Ambrose Vitkovic and sisters Caroline Vitkovic” Poloskey, Louise “Vitkovic” Zahrndt, Josephine “Vitkovic” Hendrickson, Helen “Vitkovic” Gross.
She is survived by her loving husband James Roy Thompson of Conway. Children James “Lori” Thompson Aliquippa, John “Rebecca” Thompson Clinton, Susan “Paul” Wolz Ceratti of Ambridge, Linda “Thomas” Mullin of South Beaver, Mark Thompson of Lawrence, Robert “Dawn” Thompson of Conway, and her kitty Lucy. She had 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A 1946 Graduate of Rochester High School, she was a stay at home mother raising 6 kids. She loved getting her hair styled every Wednesday. She enjoyed cooking, watch game shows, oldies, and soap operas. She also was an animal lover and feeding her outside birds and sitting outside. She was a life long resident of Conway and a life long member of the Conway Croatian Lodge 540 and a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Conway. The family would like to thank the local Medic Rescue, Conway Police, Heritage Valley Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospice for their Mother’s Care.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge. CDC guidelines and PA mandates for indoor gatherings and social distancing will be observed and masks are required. Family and friends will meet Wednesday at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 1000 Third Avenue, Conway, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12:30 PM. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Beaver County Humane Society, 3394 Brodhead Road, Aliquippa, PA 15001.
