Karen L. McGaughey

Karen L. McGaughey, 77, of Harmony Twp., passed away peacefully on Sunday, September, 29, 2019 in Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver. She was born November 16, 1941 in Philadelphia, to the late Lawrence and Elizabeth (Mathews) Larson. Karen was a 1959 graduate of Quaker Valley High School and received an associate degree from Community College of Beaver County. Karen, her husband Duke, and his brother Scott started McGaughey Buses Inc. in 1983 from where Karen retired in 2005. She actively volunteered for the Beaver County Humane Society and Laughlin Memorial Library. Karen had an incredible love for animals and a passion for cooking and baking for friends and family. She loved working in her garden and had a green thumb. She will long be remembered for the mark she left on this world to all who knew her, Glitter and Pink Flamingos.  Surviving are her loving husband of 57 years, Watson " Duke" McGaughey, Jr., a daughter, Katherine (Kevin) Klukowski of Cape Coral, FL, a son, Kent (Sylvia) McGaughey of Sewickley, two granddaughters, Maggie and Kelsey McGaughey, three brothers, Kurt (Cynthia) Larson of Harmony, PA, Lawrence "Oley" Larson of Frankfort, KY, Alex "Pete" (Phyllis) Larson of Eaton, OH, and numerous nieces and nephews. At Karen's request there was no public visitation and interment was private. Memorial contributions are suggested in Karen's memory to the Beaver County Humane Society, 3394 Brodhead Rd. Aliquippa, Pa. 15001. Arrangements were entrusted to the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. Ambridge.
