Joe Macurak, 92 of Hollidaysburg, died Thursday, December 31, 2020 in Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.
He was born September 14, 1928, in Ambridge, a son of the late Joseph and Pauline Prostak Macurak Sr. He was a graduate of Duquesne University, a member of the US Army serving during the Korean War, a longtime member of the St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Ambridge, former member of the BPOE Lodge 344 Oil City, former member and president of the Ambridge BPOE, member of the VFW Oil City, and the American Legion Lakewood, NY.
Surviving are his loving wife, Eleanor Macurak, son & daughter in law David Joseph (Jennifer) Macurak of Culpeper, Virginia, 4 granddaughters Shelby (Thomas) Lynott of Archbald, PA, Megan (Matthew) Sweeney of Fishersville, VA, Jordan Macurak of Culpeper, VA, Brandi Macurak of Culpeper, VA, 2 great granddaughters Anna & Torryn Sweeney.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his 3 brothers Steve, Edward, & John Macurak, 4 sisters Josephine Sebuska, Mary Fekete, Frances Konter, & Cecelia Zagor.
Due to the current Covid-19 concerns visitations and funeral services were held privately with full military honors performed in the SS Peter & Paul Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the John Syka Funeral Home, 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge.
