Jill Wood

Jill A. Wood, 58, of Ambridge, died Monday, September 6, 2021. She was born on July 5, 1963 in Rochester, PA to the late Eugene P. and Norma (Kolb) Podnar. Jill was employed in the claims department at FedEx. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her husband, Craig Wood, sisters, Kathleen Podnar and Robin Bemis. She is survived by a sister, Pamela M. (James) Gregio of Conway, brother-in-law, Frank Bemis of Ambridge, nieces, Tabitha L. Bemis, Amanda K. (Josh) Battaglia, brother-in-laws, Jeff (Beth) Wood, Todd Wood, sister-in-laws, Erin Wood (Jim Shaw), Jeri Ann Wood, nephews, Joshua Wood, and Jacob Wood. Jill was a very sweet person who always had a smile and kind word for everyone she met. She was an intelligent free spirit who had a talent for needlepoint, photographs, and great love for all animals. She had many beloved pets over her lifetime, especially her devoted dog, Taffy. Jill will be laid to rest on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 along with her husband Craig Wood in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Washington County. Anyone who wishes to attend the interment services for Jill and Craig are ask to meet at the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. 833 Kennedy Drive on Nov. 24 at 9:45 AM. The funeral procession will leave promptly at 10:00 AM for the cemetery where committal services will be held for both. Craig will be buried with full military honors provided by the Brentwood VFW Post 1810 Honor Guard and the United States Army with his wife Jill. Arrangements were entrusted to the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. of Ambridge.
