Jane (Kubala) Huha, 97, formerly of Midland, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2021. She was born to the late Stanley and Maryann (Hopski) in Point Marion, Pennsylvania on March 18, 1924. The fifth of seven children, Jane was the quintessential coal miner's daughter, raised in a time and place that is no longer found in the U.S.
A devoted wife and mother, known for her skill in arts and crafts, traditional Slavic cooking, organization skills, and cleanliness; Jane had an outgoing, friendly nature for every waking hour. As well as a generousity that knew no bounds, with nothing being too good for her family, and always expecting great success by all.
She married in 1943, and lived with her husband George Huha Jr. in Midland, Pennsylvania, until his passing in 2008. Together they raised 1 child James G. (Carol) Huha Ph.D. Preceeded in death by her husband of 65 years, as well as all of her siblings, and daughter-in-law Carol (Pasternak) Huha. She is survived by 3 grandchildren, Eileen (Anthony) Smits of Cleveland OH, James S, and John Huha of Pittsburgh, four great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Lindsay, Alexander, and Patrick Smits, and several nieces and nephews.
Jane worked as a nurse in Rochester Hospital for 15 years, and previously at Houze Glass Corp. in Point Marion PA, supporting the war effort.
No public visitation will be held. Family and friends will meet for a Liturgy on Friday at 1:00 p.m., in SS Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ambridge, with Rev. Michael Polosky officiating. Internment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to SS Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 404 6th Street, Ambridge PA, 15003, or to a charity of your choosing. Arrangements were entrusted to the Syka Funeral Home, 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge.
