Jack A. Karnavas, 87 of Moon Township, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019 in Masonic Village at Sewickley surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 12, 1932, in Sewickley, a son of the late Andrew and Sophie (Pitaka) Karnavas. He was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Ambridge and the Greek American Progressive Association. Jack owned and operated Karnavas Vending Company for 48 years and was a 50 year member of the Ambridge Masonic Lodge 701 F&AM.
Surviving are his loving wife, Madaline (Niaros) Karnavas, Moon Twp., two daughters, Andrea Schriver (Nigel) Barksby of Moon Twp., Sophia (Victor) Tonino of Floral Park, NY, two sons, Andrew Karnavas of Moon Twp., Nicholas (Karen) Karnavas of Shaler Twp., six grandchildren, Zachary and his fiance Lauren Nowak, Stephen Schriver, Eli and Eleni Karnavas, Norman (Mary Jo) Barksby, and Kathryn Barksby and her fiance Donald Noel, a brother, Gus (Alice) Karnavas of Philadelphia, sister in law, Marjory Karnavas of Baden, and numerous nieces & nephews and a great nephew, Xavier Barksby.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his brother, George Karnavas and a
sister, Emily Karnavas.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 1-5 P.M. in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge. A Trisagion service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Additional visitation will be held on Monday from 10:30 A.M. until time of funeral service at 11:00 A.M. in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, with Father Anastasios Athanasiou officiating. Private entombment will take place in Sylvania Hills Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church 2930 Beaver Ave Ambridge, Pa. 15003 or a charity of your choice.
