Irene Venger Zawoysky, 92, of Crescent, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 27, 2022, with her loving family by her side. She was born April 13, 1930, in Czechoslovakia to the late Joseph and Barbara (Predajna) Venger. She grew up in Polomka, Czechoslovakia, and came to western PA when she was 19. She learned English, got married and raised a family. Anyone who tasted her apple strudel or lady locks, slept under her beautiful afghans, or viewed her multiple types of needlework knows what a great loss this is to the world. She lived her life for her family and friends, and will be greatly missed by her 3 children, Robert “Zeke” Zawoysky (Terri), Hopewell, Mary Zawoysky, Crescent, and George Zawoysky, Rochester, daughter-in-law, Terri Miller, Aliquippa; her 3 grandchildren, Matthew Zawoysky (Brooke), Charlotte, NC, Dayna Lewallen, Cincinnati, OH, Valerie Bloom (Craig), Monaca, PA; and 6 great grandchildren, Hayden and Teagan Zawoysky, Grant and Reese Lewallen, and Heath and Quinn Bloom. Irene was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband of 60 years, George Zawoysky, her brother, Joseph Venger, and sister, Emily Hrablay. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Catherine’s Parish of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus grouping (mshj.org) or the World Central Kitchen (wck.org). We thank the many doctors, physician assistants, Gallagher home health and hospice nurses, EMTs and Crescent Police who helped her through her last years. Friends will be received on Tuesday, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the John Syka Funeral Home, 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, where prayers will be offered Wednesday, at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at St. Catherine Siena Parish of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus grouping, 199 McGovern Blvd., Crescent. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery Mausoleum.
