Gertrude E. Beistel

Gertrude E. Beistel, 94, of Hopewell Twp., passed away on Friday, December 2, 2022, at Apple Blossom Personal Care, Moon Twp. She was born on April 3, 1928, in Coraopolis, to the late Russell and Hannah (Scharf) Harriger. She was a registered nurse for the former LTV Steel Company retiring in 1986 with 34 years of service. Gertrude was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church, Aliquippa. She was a member of the Crescent Twp. Senior Citizens, Occupational Health Nurses Association, Sewickley Hospital Alumni Association, and the Methodist Women's Society. She volunteered at Sewickley Valley Hospital and for the American Red Cross. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were two brothers, William and Russell Harriger. She leaves behind a daughter and son-in- law, Joyce and Gregory Haskins of Spotsylvania, VA, a son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Kathi Beistel of Heath, OH, six grandchildren, Joanna (William) Patterson, William (Colleen) Beistel, Robert (Laurie) Allen, Thomas (Elizabeth) Allen, Donald Beistel, Gregory (Kristen) Haskins, and a sister, Joan Gray.  Friends will be received on Tuesday from 9 AM until time of funeral services at 11 AM in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge. Her pastor Rev. Jim Sands will officiate. Private interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
