Genevieve Schaffer, 95, a resident of Brighton Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022. She was born on May 29, 1927, in Pittsburgh, to the late Andrew and Anna (Cira) Cotton. She was a member St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, Our Lady of Peace. Genevieve was a graduate of Allegheny General Hospital School of Nursing where she worked as a registered nurse. She was very proud to have been the founder and first director of Volunteer Services at Allegheny General Hospital. She also worked as a nurse at American Red Cross and North Hills Passavant Hospital until her retirement. After retirement, she continued to work at Bellevue Pediatrics and finally as a school nurse at Ambridge Area School District. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her husband, J. Walter Schaffer and seven siblings. She is survived by three children, Janet (John) Jula, Susan (Mark) Antonini, John W. (Amy) Schaffer, five grandchildren, Kimberly Coates, Michael Jula, Jessica (Amber) Antonini, Tony Antonini, Stacey (Ryan) Massironi, and three great grandchildren, Daniel Jula, Benton Antonini, and Kaden Antonini. A private Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, Our Lady of Peace Church. Private interment followed in Good Samaritan Cemetery.
