Gail J. Dougan, 84, of Harmony Twp. (formerly of Freedom) passed away peacefully on January 22, 2022, at UPMC Cranberry Place. She was born on October 24, 1937, in Sewickley. The eldest daughter of the late Boynton and Bessie (Snyder) Hainley. She was a homemaker, devoted member of the former First Presbyterian Church of Freedom and a proud breast cancer survivor of 25 years. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was her loving husband of 33 years, R. David Dougan. She is survived by three loving children, two sons and a daughter, Mark Dougan of Tuscon, AZ, Scott Dougan of Harmony Twp., and Cheryl (Michael) Macon of New Sewickley Twp., two grandchildren, Lauran Macon of New Sewickley Twp., Colin Macon of Ross Twp., three sisters, Betsy Nanz of Mercer, Sylvia (Joe) Beech of Linesville and Cathy Hainley of Tuscon, AZ, and numerous nieces and nephews. Gail was a very caring, loving, and giving mother and grandmother. Her greatest joys were spending time with her family and baking. She was a devout Christian who always had a kind word for everyone she met. Gail was very active in her church serving as an elder, Sunday school teacher and was a founding member of the church's nursery school. She was also the organizer and active in the L.I.P.S. prayer group. She was honored to teach numerous children for over 30 years. She will be missed by all who loved her and will always be in our hearts. Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. 833 Kennedy Dr. Ambridge where a funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 AM. Private interment will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery, Freedom. The family would like to thank the staff of UPMC Cranberry Place for the loving and compassionate care extended to Gail during her stay there.
