Francis Anthony Zalenski

With heavy hearts we share that Francis Anthony Zalenski, age 76, of Mission Viejo, Orange County, California, formerly of Ambridge, passed away on March 6, 2023, at his home in California. Francis was born July 31, 1946, in Ambridge, one of six children born to the late Steven John and Frances (Dunn) Zalenski, Sr. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Donald, Lawrence, Stephen, Jr., Richard J. Zalenski. He was the uncle of Jennifer (Zalenski) McKinney, Stephanie (Zalenski) Fazenbaker, Dana (Zalenski) Carr, Lynn (Zalenski) Gentile, Lori (Zalenski) Ochman, Robert and Lance Zalenski, and Lisa (Zalenski) Buckingham. He will be missed by his sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins. After graduating from St. Veronica High School, he entered the Air Force in October of 1965. He proudly served his country as a member of Air Force in the Vietnam War. His medals earned included the Nation Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Outstanding Unit Award Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, and Air Force Longevity Service Award. He retired from the Air Force in June of 1970 as a Sergeant in communications. Francis graduated from Robert Morris University with a Batchelor of Science Degree and a Batchelor of Business Administration Degree in marketing. He later worked for the State of California as an employment interviewer until his retirement.  Friends will be received on Monday from 11:30 AM until time of blessing service at 12:30 PM in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. 833 Kennedy Drive Ambridge. Interment will follow with full military honors at 2 PM in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Washington County.
