Elizabeth “Betty Jean” Sabo Chesnoski, age 87, of Conway, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, December 29, 2025. Born on February 16, 1938, in Ambridge, she was the daughter of the late William Sabo and Beryl Parks, and the stepdaughter of Helen Sabo, who raised her from when she was a baby.
For 57 wonderful years, she was married to her devoted husband, the late Nick Chesnoski, who preceded her in death in 2014. Betty leaves behind a legacy of love through her children and their spouses—her daughter, Brenda Mellen (Matthew), and son, Gary Chesnoski (Annette)—as well as her beloved grandchildren, Mitchell Chesnoski (Lauren) and Mason Chesnoski (fiancée Katrina Becker) and her siblings—William (Darlene) Sabo, Deborah (Richard) Michalik, and Donald (Stacey) Sabo.
As an active member of the Conway Women’s Club, Betty poured her energy into community service, always ready to offer a helping hand. Her commitment extended beyond her neighborhood—she dedicated over three decades to Sears, where she was known for her reliability and kindness to both colleagues and customers. She also took great joy in showing her beloved Shelties at local dog shows, where her gentle spirit and sense of pride shone through. Betty’s life was defined by her deep dedication to her family and commitment to uplifting her community. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and countless cherished memories. All who knew her were touched by her warmth, her laughter, and her genuine care for others. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her loved ones and the many lives she brightened along the way.
Family and friends are invited to honor Betty’s life on Friday, with visitation hours from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at John Syka Funeral Home, 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, PA 15003, from where a prayer will be offered on Saturday at 10:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in the Good Samaritan Catholic Church – Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish, 725 Glenwood Avenue, Ambridge, PA 15003. The service will be followed immediately by a Committal service at the church. Burial will take place privately at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at a later date.
