Edward Wivell, 88 of Ambridge, died Tuesday, August 24, 2021 in Aspinwall VAMC.
He was born October 15, 1932, in Pittsburgh, son of Raymond and Anna Connelly Wivell. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed traveling. He had a passion for talking on his ham radio. He served in the US Coast Guard during the Korean War and was a retired steelworker of Bethlehem Steel. He also worked for the Federal General Services Administration at the Federal Building in Pittsburgh.
Surviving are his loving wife, Patricia Wivell, children Edward P. (Michelle) Wivell of Stewart, FL, Mary Ann Wivell (Randy Arndt) of Atlanta, GA, Colleen Wivell (Rob Paine) of Canton, MI, six grandchildren Trace Pierce, Trevor and Derrick Arndt, Bryce, Anna, and Lizzy Paine, two sisters Joanne Strasbaugh of Mars, Gertrude Connors of West End, Pittsburgh, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his siblings, Raymond Wivell, Mary Lowe, Frank Wivell, Jean Marlin, Steve Wivell, Sally Bosco, Charles Wivell, and Rosemarie Wivell.
Friends will be received on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, from where a prayer service will be held Saturday at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 A.M. in the Good Samaritan Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery with the US Coast Guard providing full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to EWTN, Irondale, Alabama.
