Dru A. Tkatch, 53, of Baden, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 12, 2024, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 19, 1970, in Sewickley, to the late Ronald and Carol (Mercadante) Tkatch. He was employed as an engineer in the design and planning division of Comcast. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were a sister-in-law, Margaret (Maggie) Tkatch, in- laws, Thomas and Sandy Dunmyer and brother-in-law, Eric T. Dunmyer. Surviving are his loving wife of 29 years, Shannen (Dunmyer) Tkatch, four children, Philip A., Owen T., Riley G. and Preston D. Tkatch, a sister, Laura (Timothy) Buck, a brother, Neil Tkatch, and his aunt, Nancy Throckmorton, all of Baden, nieces and nephews, Brandon, Aadan, and Liam Buck, Quinn Tkatch, Eric ( Carley) Dunmyer, Dylan Castro, Chloe Castro, TJ (Hannah) Dunmyer, Kelsey, Simon, and Spencer Dickinson, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Melanie and Scott Castro of Baden, Todd (Therese) Dunmyer of Fort Mill, SC, and Stephanie Dunmyer of Rochester. After high school, Dru received an associate's degree in Aircraft Mechanics from the Pittsburgh Technical Institute. In later years, while working for Merlot Tarpaulin, Dru enrolled in the University of Phoenix where in 2006 he completed his bachelor’s degree in information technology. Following this, he was hired at Comcast where he remained employed until his death. Dru was an avid community supporter and leader, serving 25 years with the Baden Volunteer Fire Department until his retirement in 2013, and serving the Baden Youth Association for 20 years as a coach, board member, and President. Dru enjoyed many of life’s niceties including baseball, camping with his family, watching the discovery channel, and even fixing up our old house. But, first and foremost, his priority was raising his sons, all of whom reflect the best parts of him. Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc., 833 Kennedy Drive where a blessing service will be held on Friday at 11 AM. The family invites everyone to attend a funeral luncheon immediately following the service at the Baden Volunteer Fire Department, 47 Fire House Lane, Baden.
