Dianne Atsidis Obituary

Dianne Atsidis, 69, of Harmony Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 29, 2023, in her home surrounded by her loving family after courageously battling cancer for the last several years. She was born on October 26, 1954, in Ellwood City, to the late Rudolph and Vivian (Rosser) Hanger. She grew up in Economy Borough and enjoyed many wonderful years on Woodside Drive where she experienced great joy and had many fond memories with her parents, siblings, friends and neighbors. The neighborhood often held community events and gatherings and it was like having a large extended family. Dianne often remarked on how blessed she was to grow up in such an environment. Also, during her childhood, she and family would regularly visit the family farm in Portersville, PA where her father grew up and also took trips to Kinzua Dam, Cook Forest, Moraine State Park, along with various area amusement parks. Dianne went on to graduate from Ambridge High School in 1972. She then began working as a typesetter at the local newspaper, " The Free News" for Ray Palkett on Airport Road in Aliquippa. It was during that time in her life that she met and later married Christ (Greek) Atsidis. Several years later they would have the pleasure of welcoming two sons into the world Christ and Kevin. Dianne's family grew further with the addition of two daughters-in-law, Stephanie and Holly and would later welcome several grandchildren, Ian, Aiden, Lydia, Owen, Celeste with one more on the way. Dianne filled many roles during her time with us. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend to many. In addition to the time and love she devoted to her relationships, she also worked in the community at public schools, daycare, and taught Sunday School at the former St. Veronica Church. Dianne had a strong love for her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and children in the community in which she served. She also spent a considerable amount of time caring for the sick and elderly members of her family and extended families. She spent countless hours as a homemaker, ensuring that her husband, sons, and grandchildren had delicious and healthy food, clean clothes, and an organized home. She was the CEO of her home. Dianne also had a sweet tooth and enjoyed baking cakes, brownies, and cookies. She also enjoyed giving gifts to her loved ones and did her best to be a thoughtful giver. Dianne did her part in the Great Commission by sharing the good news of the gospel with family, friends and strangers she met in her daily travels to the grocery store, pharmacy, restaurants and everywhere she went. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was a brother, William "Billy" Henger. Surviving in addition to her husband, sons and daughters-in-law, and grandchildren are two sisters, Debbie (Dave) Byrd and Heidi (Rich) Wahlster, all of Baden. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 4-8 PM in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge where a blessing service will be held on Thursday at 11 AM.
