Carolyn Verszyla, age 81, of Sewickley, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born July 26, 1944, in Sewickley, Carolyn was the cherished daughter of Carl W. and Ann (Hrechun) Moore.
Throughout her life, Carolyn demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep commitment to her community. She was elected several times as a Leet Township Commissioner, served as manager for Rochester Township, and was president of St. James Parish’s Church Council, where she was a lifelong member. Known for her honesty, fairness, and unwavering dedication, Carolyn always carried the needs of the people she served in her heart.
For more than 30 years, Carolyn was the welcoming face of the Sewickley Valley Hospital Emergency Room, offering comfort and kindness to families during moments of illness, accidents, and trauma. Her steady presence and compassionate spirit touched countless lives.
A loving mother and grandmother, Carolyn’s proudest accomplishment was raising her two children.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Lisa Ann (John) Sieckowski and Jeffrey (Shelly) Verszyla; her five adored grandchildren, David Earl (Teresa), Madeline (Charlie Bailey), Eva Marie, Alexander, and Carson; her sister, Marilyn Swartz (David Ries); her nephews, John V. Swartz (Julie) and Michael Swartz (Katie). She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Lucy. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Family will receive friends on Friday, from 3 PM until time of prayer service at 7:30 PM in the John Syka Funeral Home, 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge. Interment will take privately.
