Carolyn Jean Ford, RN

Carolyn Jean Ford, RN, 74, of Economy, died Wednesday, March 17, 2021 in her home. She was born on November 28, 1946 in Alton, Upshur County, WV to the late Gohen and Josalene (Phipps) Tenney. Carolyn was a 1964 graduate of Ambridge High School and a 1967 graduate of Allegheny General Hospital School of Nursing. She enjoyed a long 30 year career as a nurse in the labor and delivery room at Allegheny General Hospital and spent 2 more years working in West Penn Hospital labor and delivery until her retirement in 2011. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was active in the Methodist Women's Society.  Her passions in life next to spending time with her family were crocheting, quilting, collecting Santa Claus’s, and most notably attending car cruises with her husband just so they could to be together. She would be very content reading a book while Arthur enjoyed the cars. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were an infant son at birth, Arthur Gene Ford, a brother, Bob Tenney and a sister, Mary Lou Hayes. She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Arthur Ford, three loving children, Judy (Greg) Bowser of Beaver, Valerie (Sean) Girdwood of Mars and Gary (Mary Kay) Ford of Baden, and her five grandchildren, Zachary and Noah Bowser, Addison, Ava, and Allie Girdwood, a sister, Joyce (Joe) Csomay of Aliquippa and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Friday from 4 to 8 PM in the John Syka Funeral Home, 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge. Additional visitation will take place at the First United Methodist Church, 649 Maplewood Avenue, Ambridge, on Saturday from noon until time off services at 1:00 PM. Her pastor Rev. Harriet Hutton will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Freedom.
