Carl E. Nelson, 89, a 30 year resident of Achieva Group Home, Allison Park, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Good Samaritan Hospice House, Marshall Twp. He was born, May 23, 1934, in Oakmont, to the late Carl E. Nelson, Sr. and Ethel (Casey) Nelson. Despite Carl being born disabled, he had a great sense of humor and was loved and will be missed by so many. He totally amazed everyone with his brilliant mind and memory. He knew all the statistics and batting averages of all the Pittsburgh Pirates and every statistic of every player on the Pittsburgh Steelers. He had the gift of remembering every one's birthday and he would know what day of the week it would fall on years from now. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were a sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Gordon Woelke and brother-in-law, Donald McNally. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, a sister, Janet McNally of Economy, nieces, Cynthia (Russell) Lighton, Alice (Rich) Evans, nephew, Steven (Leah) Fitzgerald, great nieces and great nephews, Kassie and Sam Fitzgerald and Hailey, Del and Lindsay Lighton and his extended family at Achieva Group Home who showed Carl much love while part of their family. There will be no public visitation. A private service followed by inurnment will take place at the Lakewood Memorial Gardens Chapel, Cheswick, PA.
