Barbara "Neen" Zankel

Barbara "Neen" Zankel, 68, of Baden, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 27, 2022, in her home with her loving husband by her side after an extended illness. She was born on October 29, 1953, in Pittsburgh, daughter of Robert Merriman Sr. and Bernice Bews.  Neen retired as a registered nurse from Allegheny General Hospital. She was a member of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, Good Samaritan Church where she loved volunteering for church activities and a member of the Ladies of Charity, Ambridge. She also enjoyed camping with family and friends.  Preceding her in death in addition to her father was her son, Justin Zankel. She is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Hap Zankel, her mother, Bernie Bews, three brothers, William (Jennifer) Merriman, Tim (Janet) Merriman, Robert Merriman, Jr., two sisters, Carol Schavolt, Debbie Cyrilla, three stepdaughters, Tina (Robert) Swider, Debbie Zankel, Denise Zankel, three grandchildren, Sarah Swider, Timothy (Keile) Swider, and Brandon Zankel, and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the John Syka Funeral Home, 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge where prayers will be offered on Wednesday at 10 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, Good Samaritan Church. Interment will follow in Good Samaritan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to St. Luke the Evangelist Parish or Ladies of Charity.
