Anne Kowalski Obituary

Anne M. Kowalski, 97, of Harmony Township, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 24, 2022 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 9, 1924 in Ambridge, to the late Steve and Anna (Gera) Mosura. She was a devoted Christian to her Catholic faith. Anne was a very active member of St. Luke the Evangelist Roman Catholic Parish, Good Samaritan Catholic Church where she was a member of the Christian Mothers Ladies Guild. She was proud to be a part of the Archive Committee that was established during the mergers of all the Ambridge Catholic churches. Her passion in life next to all of her family was preparing her culinary creations in her kitchen where she spent many hours preparing the best homemade meals and baked goods to entertain her family and many friends over the years. She loved the holidays and made them very, very special. We will cherish our Mother’s unyielding love and unselfishness, quick wit and great sense of humor. Anne spent over 40 years as a nanny and caretaker serving a local family with love, compassion and dedication. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her loving husband for over 50 years, Walter Kowalski, a daughter and son- in- law, Gloria and Peter Kingerski, six siblings, Charles, Michael, and Steve Mosura, Helen Parisi, Irene Trapizona, and Olga Tucci. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, a daughter and son- in- law, Carol and Angelo Pournaras of Franklin Park, a son and daughter-in-law, Wally and Kathy Kowalski of Rochester Twp., four grandchildren, Adam (Jessica) Kowalski of GA, Evan (Emily) Kowalski of TN, Lindsay (Brian) Mohr of Wexford, Matthew (Jeanna) Pournaras of Cranberry Twp., eight great grandchildren, Henry, William, Julian, Liam, Carson, Mia, Kinsley and Aven, a sister, Mary Bedekovich of Aliquippa, a brother, Robert Skrabolak of New York, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. The Family offers special thanks to Anne’s caregiving team that provided love and warmth to her in her home. Also, thanks to the AHN Hospice team that provided comfort. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 3 to 7 PM in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge where prayers will be offered on Thursday at 11:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Noon at St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, Good Samaritan Church, 725 Glenwood Ave., Ambridge. Interment will follow in Good Samaritan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to St. Luke the Evangelist Parish.
