Angelina Katherine Mecchia, age 16, of Brighton Twp, went to heaven peacefully on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at UPMC Children's with her parents by her side after her courageous battle with a very rare type of ovarian cancer. She was born on December 20, 2005 in Sewickley, to Brian and Jaime (DePietro) Mecchia. Angelina was a 10th grade student at Beaver Area High School. She also attended Ambridge Area School District and Reynold School District. Angelina enjoyed spending time with family, babysitting, DIY projects, getting her nails done, and collecting purses and tennis shoes. She loved crafts and doing activities with her siblings and neighborhood children. She always knew how to make everything so much fun for them. Angelina had a passion for traveling to the beach and loved Florida. She enjoyed eating out at various restaurants and online shopping. She often chose spending time with her family over everything else. Angelina always made time for both the young and old. She spent alot of time with her puppy Coco who was by her side until the end of her battle. She kept her friend circle small, but those she let in she truly loved and cherished their love and friendship. Angelina was the most selfless person often thinking of others over her self. She was kind to all those she met and always included everyone never leaving anyone out. She absolutely loved animals and cared so gently for them. In addition to Coco, she had two turtles, two chinchillas, and three dogs. Angelina's name means " Angel". Her name truly held to her spirit with a beaming smile, angelic porcelain doll face, and laughter that would light up any room. Angelina will be truly missed by all that she loved and those that loved her. Surviving in addition to her parents are her siblings, Michaelina Mecchia-Hoover, Samuel Mecchia, and Melina Mecchia, maternal grandparents, Albert and Kathryn (Johnson) DePietro and paternal grandparents, Robert and Janet (Repper) Mecchia. Friends will be received on Monday, January 24 from 2-8 PM at the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge. Family and friends will meet Tuesday January 25 at New Hope Community Church, 592 Beaver Road, Ambridge where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM with Pastor Rick Thornhill presiding.
