Andrew Charko, of Ambridge, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023, at 101 years young. He was born on July 17, 1921, in Ukraine, one of four children born to the late, Bill and Anna (Nyznyk) Charko. He was a retired steelworker for Bethlehem Steel Corporation. Andrew was a longtime member of SS Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ambridge. His passion in life was working and working very hard. He enjoyed playing pinochle and chess. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his wife Anna (Tychoslup) Charko and a daughter Dorothy Ohorodnyk. He is survived by three sons, Bill Charko of Economy, Michael (Kathy) Charko of the state of Washington, John (Julie) Charko of Fair Oaks, seven grandchildren, Julie (Brian) Wilson, John Ohorodnyk, Christopher Charko, Jesse Charko, Daniel Charko, Seann (Alicia) Charko, Taylor (Jonathan) Oakes, five great grandchildren, Jacob, Cody, Evan Wilson, Reese Ohorodnyk, and Ana Charko. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge. A Panachyda service will be offered Thursday at 11 AM followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 11:30 AM in SS Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church with his pastor, Father Michael Polosky officiating. Interment will follow in SS Peter and Paul Cemetery. A Parastas service will be held on Wednesday at 4:15 in the funeral home.
