Alexandra K. Gaitanis

Alexandra K. Gaitanis, 88, of Harmony Twp, passed away in her home on Sunday, January 1, 2023. She was born on October 5, 1934, in Uniontown, to the late Andrew and Theodora (Grammaticopoulos) Kyrargyros. She was a 1951 graduate of Ambridge High School and worked for 28 years at Laughlin Memorial Library, Ambridge. Alexandra was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, where she sang in the choir for 60 years. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her husband, Nick J. Gaitanis, grandson, Andrew Everetts, siblings, Anthony Kyros, George Kyrargyros, Emily Bennis, niece, Dorothea Kyros-Eaker, and nephew, Andrew Kyrargyros. She is survived by a daughter, Maria (Walter) Everetts of Fountain Hills, AZ, a grandson, Nicholas Everetts, nieces, Sophia (William) Chickos, Theodora (George) Hackett, Jacqueline Bennis, Priscilla (Peter) Chioros, nephew, Anthony (Bernice) Kyrargyros, and numerous great nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Sandra’s angels (Kimberly, Anne, and Cari) and to Chrysta and Josalyn of Gallagher Hospice for their compassionate care. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 4-8 PM in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. 833 Kennedy Dr., Ambridge and Wednesday from 9:30 AM until time of funeral services at 10 AM in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 2930 Beaver Road, Ambridge. Her pastor, Father Anastasios Athanasiou will preside. Interment will follow in Economy Cemetery. A Trisagion will be held on Tuesday at 5:30 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church or to Laughlin Memorial Library.
