Richard Brooks, 90, of Economy Borough, died Monday, December 30, 2019 in Heritage Valley Health System, Beaver.
He was born May 14, 1929, in Braeburn, PA, to the late Squire and Pearl (Neiswonger) Brooks.
He was a retired engineer for the former Penn Central Railroad and Conrail. He served his county as an aircraft mechanic in the US Airforce during the Korean War. His hobbies included camping, visiting local casinos and golfing. He played in several Black Hawk Senior Tournaments and was proud of his first hole in one at Mill Creek Golf Course in Boardman, Ohio. He was a member and past president of the Baden American Legion Post #641.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his son, Richard A. (Rick) Brooks three sisters, Alberta Hickman, Mary Ellen Roberts, Garnet Faith, half sister, Ellen Tipinski, brother, David Brooks, half brother, James Brooks.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Brooks, three sons, Dr. Timothy S. (Barbara Jean "BJ") Brooks of Titusville, Charles W. Brooks of Titusville, James P. (Sally) Brooks of New Sewickley Twp., grandchildren, Seth M. Brooks of Titusville, Cara J. Hutchinson of Titusville, Kelsey L. (Demitrius) Vassy of Odenton, Maryland, Brianna Brooks of Bridgewater, Patrick J. Brooks of Arizona, Alexandra N. (Timothy J.) Hyland of Charlotte, NC, Madison E. Brooks of Chicago IL, step brother Andrew Nesbit of Lower Burrell, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 1-5 PM in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, from where a funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 AM. Interment with full military honors will follow at 1:00 PM in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
