Matthew Kosta Obituary

Matthew Paul Kosta, 34, of Harmony Twp., died unexpectedly on Monday, July 2, 2018. He was born January 5, 1984, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Mark J. Kosta and the late Kathleen Huey Kosta. Matt was a 2002 graduate of Ambridge High School. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army attaining the rank of Staff Sgt. where he served his country alongside special forces at the Afghanistan and Pakistan border battling the Taliban. He was a much decorated Army veteran. During his 10 years in the U.S. Army, he accomplished to receive his bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland. His passion in life above all was spending time with his children. Surviving are his father and stepmother, Mark J. Kosta and Mary Kephart of Ambridge; two loving children who adored him, Ava and Jackson Kosta; a brother, Justin Kosta of Washington, D.C.; sisters, Whitney Kosta of Ambridge, Rachael (John) Dudash of Cranberry Twp., and Brandy Johnson of Ambridge; a stepbrother, Christopher (Amelia) Kephart of Shaler Twp.; mother of his children, Angela Firetta of imperial; numerous nieces and nephews, and his girlfriend, Wendy Costello Parsons. Friends will be received at the JOHN SYKA FUNERAL HOME INC., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 p.m. until time of blessing services at 7:30 p.m. Military honors provided by the Beaver County Special Unit and the U.S. Army will follow at 8 p.m. Interment will be private.
