Mary Marshall Obituary

Mary Marshall, age 79, died on July 30, 2018, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a long struggle with health issues. She was preceded by Tom, her husband of 44 years. Mary was born in Piedmont, W.Va., on Feb 13, 1939, the daughter of Sarah Helen Ball Poland and stepfather Edward W. Poland. Mary moved to Pennsylvania in 1952 and spent most of her adult life in Ambridge, Pa. She graduated Ambridge High School in 1958. She worked a number of years at a small family style restaurant in Ambridge. She then did daycare for working moms and really enjoyed having children in her life. Later she worked at The Edgeworth Club in Sewickley, Pa., until she retired. Mary enjoyed cooking and baking for holidays with family and friends. She liked to crochet and donated baby blankets to newborns at her church. Mary is survived by her sister, Barbara Bell Lambert; her brother, Ronald L. Poland; her sister-in-law, Patricia White; brother-in-law, Robert Marshall, and several nieces and nephews. Mary was fortunate to have people in her life that cared for her. The Henry family was in her life for years and spent many days with her during her health struggles. Anytime she called, they would be there. She also had Cindy Marshall, who took her to all of her doctor's appointments. Janet Hogan was a special friend she saw every day, who brought her meals and made sure she took her medication. Mary had many visits from Pastor Fahrion from Zion First Lutheran Church. At Mary's request, there was no visitation. Services were private. Arrangements were entrusted to the JOHN SYKA FUNERAL HOME INC., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge.
