Joseph Giedl Obituary


Joseph J. Giedl, age 78, of  Marshall Township,  passed  away peacefully on Friday, September 28, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 19, 1940, in Sewickley,  PA, son of the late John J. and Rose Weidinger Giedl. He was a retired steelworker for the former Dravo Corporation and Tru-Weld. He finally retired from Sewickley Valley Hospital with environmental services after 20 years service. Joe was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Sewickley.  Next to spending time with his family and friends, his passions in life were hunting and shooting. Surviving are his loving wife of 58 years, Babette Settembrine Geidl, four children, Gerri Miller, Tracy White, Maggie Cline, and Kelly Giedl, and their spouses, 16 grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were a son and daughter,  Michael and Melissa Giedl and a sister, Marian Giedl. Friends will be recieved on Monday from 2-8 PM in the John Syka Funeral Home,  833 Kennedy Drive,  Ambridge, where  prayers will be offered Tuesday at 10:30 AM  followed  by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St James  Catholic  Church. Interment will follow in Resurrection  Cemetery.
