Jilda "Jil" (Volpe) Montanile, 90, of Leetsdale, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018, in her home. She was born December 30, 1927, in Ambridge, Pa., to the late Joseph and Mary Volpe. She was a member of Good Samaritan Parish, Ambridge. Her passion in life was her family. Jil was a loving wife and encouraging mother to her four children and loving grandmother not only to her own grandchildren but was called "Grandma" by all the other kids in the neighborhood. She loved music and had a beautiful singing voice. Jil loved cooking, baking, gardening and walking with her friends. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her grandson, Scott Harman and two sisters, Louise Wheeler and Linda Darner. Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Jack Montanile; four children, Jeanne Harman of Dayton, Ohio, Susan Montanile of Leetsdale, John (Cheryl) Montanile of Pittsburgh, and Michael Montanile of Leetsdale; and six grandchildren, John Harman, Marcus Montanile, Andrew Montanile, Mia Montanile, Charlie Crow and Kara Montanile. Friends will be received at the JOHN SYKA FUNERAL HOME INC., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. where prayers will be offered Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9 a.m. in Good Samaritan Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Sylvania Hills Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Leetsdale Garden Club, 373 Beaver Street, Leetsdale, PA 15056.
