James R. (Rich) Haymond, 85 of Baden, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019.
He was born August 25, 1933, in Kanawha Head, WV, he was the second of 5 children to the late Arden and Mazie McCray Haymond.
He graduated from Buchannan Upshur High School in 1951. He worked at various jobs, sawmills, pipelines and such before coming to this area in the early 50's. He worked in a couple of steel mills before joining the Navy in July of 1952 where he served four years on a "Tin Can", The Robert L. Wilson as a radio operator. After returning from the Navy, he worked in the steel mills before joining the United States Post Office where he spent 30 years.
He was a lifetime member of the Ambridge District Sportsman's Club and a member of the Baden American Legion for over 50 years.
Surviving are his daughter Patricia Meehan of Baden, son Ricky Haymond of Hopewell, grandchildren Christopher Meehan of Seattle, WA, Jamie Thomas of Baden, Chelsea (Jon) Carter of Harmony Twp., Kellie (Kyle) Himes of Camp Lejeune, NC, along with great grandchildren Shaun Thomas, Emmalyn, Lincoln Himes, Amber, & Lane Carter, 2 sisters Roberta Baxa of Rochester, Jenny Carr of Arizona, .
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his wife, Thelma Casto Haymond, 2 brothers, Robert and Raymond.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 4-8 P.M. in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge,
Family and friends will meet Friday at 10:30 A.M. until time of Funeral Service at 11 A.M. at the Baden United Methodist Church, with Rev. James Young Officiating.
Interment will follow with full military honors provided by the Beaver County Special Unit and the United States Navy in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
