2 Timothy 4:7 - “I have fought the good fight; I have finished my course; I have kept the faith.” The gates opened on August 17, 2019 to welcome Evtehia “Effie” (Aspiotes) Zamagias, 88, of Pittsburgh. Born February 19, 1931, Daughter of the late Michael and Lillie (Peronis) Aspiotes of Ambridge, Effie was a faithful Greek Orthodox Christian who lived in and owned multiple businesses in Johnstown before returning to Pittsburgh with her family. Known as the life of the party, skilled Greek dancer, wonderful cook and for her impeccable fashion (including her many hats). Effie’s sense of humor and desire to live life to the fullest was adored and admired by all.
Effie is survived by three sons: Demetrius “Demo,” Michael (Elizabeth) and Marcus (Theresa); six grandchildren: Olivia, Noah, Octavia, Gabrielle, Alexis and Augustus; sister Josephine (John) Mrkonja, and many dear relatives. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband Gus, brothers August, Louis, John and James, and sisters Mary, Frieda and Rena.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9 A.M. til time of funeral service at 10 A.M. in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 2930 Beaver Road, Ambridge with the Rev. Fr. Anastasios Athanasiou officiating. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the John Syka Funeral Home, Ambridge.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Effie’s name “Mission of Mercy Pittsburgh”- free dental program for the under served.
