Claude E. Russell, 91, of Harmony Twp., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 in Masonic Village, Aleppo Twp. He was born July 14, 1928 in Alexander, WV to the late Grover Cleveland and Harriet (Pringle) Russell. He was a retired steelworker for Wycoff Steel Corporation and a member of the Baden American Legion. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army as part of Company B 81st Recon Battalion during the Korean War and was the recipient of three Bronze Stars. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his wife, Joan (Echard) Russell, three sisters, Lena Tenney, Thelma Marsh, and Irene Tenney, three brothers, Darrel, Harold, and Eugene Russell and former wife, Carrie Snyder. He is survived by four daughters, Sharon (Jan) von Hofen of Sewickley, Milly Janczura of Colorado, Phyllis Russell and her fiance Don Sowinski of Aliquippa, Jacqueline (Francis) Eichenberg of Hopewell Twp., two grandchildren, Melanie (Jeff) Ulincy of Ambridge, Megan Colyer of Colorado, two great grandchildren, Madison and Brandon Colyer, sister, Gilsie Tenney of Rock Cave, WV, sister-in-law, Marylena Russell of French Creek, WV, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday from 1 PM until time of memorial service at 4:30 PM in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc. 833 Kennedy Dr. Ambridge. Following the memorial service, military honors will be provided by the Beaver County Special Unit and the US Army. Private inurnment will take place in Sewickley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of choice.
