Christ Pappas, 97 of Baden, died Monday, February 18, 2019 in UPMC North Hills Passavant Hospital.
He was born November 28, 1921, in Ambridge, a son of the late Harry and Cora (Beck) Pappas.
He was a former employee of National Electric Corporation and a retired change analyst in the engineering department of IBM. He was a a long time member of the St. John's Lutheran Church at Old Economy where he was a past president of the church council, Sunday School teacher and usher. He proudly served his country as a member of the US Marine Corps during World War II.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his first wife, Elizabeth and second wife Edythe, two brothers, Harry and James Pappas and two sisters, Mary Luketic and Annetta Annetta Pappas.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda Ivan of Candler, NC, a son Chris H. Pappas of Binghamton, NY, 16 grandchidren and 18 great grandchildren, two sisters, Cora Pappas of Baden, Edna Schofield of Norwell, MA, four stepdaughters, Cathy Fuegi of North Huntingdon, Deborah Yavonovic of St. John Island, SC, Tammy Pegher of Economy, and Renee Giordano of Claremont, FL.
Friends will be received in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, PA, on Sunday from noon to 4 P.M.. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 A.M. in St. Johns Lutheran Church at Old Economy, 1320 Church St., Ambridge. Interment with full military honors will be held Wednesday, February 27, at 11:00 in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Anyone wishing to attend the burial service is asked to meet Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. in the Syka Funeral Home parking lot.
